It's time to stock up on holy water and stakes, and eat your fill of garlic salad.

Hulu has put a sequel to Buffy the Vampire Slayer into production, which is called a new chapter in the show's universe. In honor of the news of the cult vampire show's return, we decided to look back at stories that involve a lot (a lot!) of blood.

1. Dark Shadows, 1966-1971

Sorry, Johnny Depp 's fans, but his version of the vampire Barnabas Collins is in every way inferior to the British series from the 60s.

British fantasy shows have a special charm that does not work with a Hollywood budget and widescreen movie format. It is impossible to fit all the twists and turns of Doctor Who into one movie, just as it is impossible to tell the absolutely crazy story of a gentleman who has seen it all.

Time travel, encounters with historical figures, murder, drama, strange monsters, highs and lows. Believe us, Barnabas will not let you get bored.

2. True Blood, 2008-2014

The plot revolves around a seemingly ordinary waitress from Louisiana. Sookie Stackhouse has a rare gift, telepathy, which does little to help her in life and usually only brings trouble.

One such case brings her together with the melancholic vampire Bill Compton and his more aggressive relatives.

True Blood puts the emphasis on the romantic side of the story, putting the main character in front of a difficult choice between two men who love her – Bill and the leader of the vampire clan, Eric.

3. A Discovery of Witches, 2018-2022

Deborah Harkness' fantasy trilogy All Souls, which served as the basis for the adaptation, tells the story of a woman named Diana, a historian and witch by birthright, who stumbles upon a rare manuscript that is being hunted by several influential magical clans at once.

In an attempt to understand the text of the manuscript, Diana turns to the vampire Matthew for help, who, despite the centuries-old feud, decides to help her.

The main advantage of the series is the amazing chemistry between the characters of Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode, who, according to the rules of all vampire stories, quickly feel romantic attraction to each other.

4. The Vampire Diaries, 2009-2017

Teenagers Elena and Jeremy have lost their parents. Their lives in Mystic Falls have changed completely, and now every day is filled with sadness and grief.

In school, Elena notices Stefan, a vampire who is trying to fight his thirst for blood. At the same time, his cruel and unprincipled brother Damon arrives in Mystic Falls.

Well, that's the classic. The cult series still has a huge fan base. Like Twilight, Julie Plec's project romanticizes the image of the vampire, turning him into a sensual character suffering from his curse of immortality.

5. From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, 2017-2021

The horror series From Dusk Till Dawn is part of the film universe of the same name created by Robert Rodriguez. The plot still focuses on two criminal brothers, Seth and Richie, who are being pursued by the FBI.

On the Mexican border, the Gecko brothers decide to hijack a van belonging to a priest and then head to a strip bar. The bar turns out to be a vampire den which people usually don't leave alive.

The series version of From Dusk Till Dawn, unlike the cult horror movie of the 90s, did not get much love from viewers, which is a shame.

The show, created by Robert Rodriguez himself, expands on the story of its original source, offering a whole new look at the Gecko brothers and even Santanico Pandemonium, played by Eiza González in this version.
