It’s time for Grey’s Anatomy’s fans to fill the void with numerous theories about who didn’t survive that big explosion at the end of the ongoing season 21’s finale.

In particular, the episode saw Seattle Grace Hospital getting shaken by a devastating gas explosion caused by the tank leaking acetylene on the floor.

The hit medical drama isn’t coming back to the screens until the fall of this year, which means there’s no way to figure out what exactly happened to every single character amidst the chaos.

However, some are definitely safe and others not so much — here’s who the show’s fans hope survived and who, well, didn’t.

Who Definitely Survived in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Finale?

Even though the event will likely affect everyone in the hospital, there are still those who just were lucky to not be present at the scene anyway.

It’s now clear that Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey saw the explosion from the outside of the hospital. Ben Warren’s fans also have nothing to worry about since the episode saw the character reflecting on what’s next for his career on a bench outside when the explosion occurred.

Jo Wilson, in the meantime, was far away from the hospital at the time, already being at home and accidentally revealing some surprising truth to her husband Link.

Additionally, Owen Hunt was also nowhere near the scene, remaining on the recovery floor when the surgical floor exploded.

The show’s next season is yet to reveal whether Link in fact died during the explosion, leaving Jo heartbroken with several little kids, but many are already seeing red just because of Owen potentially staying safe anyway.

When Is ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 22 Being Released?

The show’s next season will be broadcast during the 2025-2026 season, though ABC is yet to announce the official premiere date.
