Well, surprisingly, it’s almost a tie…

Summary:

  • Actor and Taylor Swift ’s ex boyfriend Joe Alwyn co-wrote six songs on her several albums under a pseudonym William Bowery.
  • Though Alwyn and Swift broke up around a year ago, the actor keeps receiving royalties from their common songs’ live performances and streamings.
  • Alwyn reportedly made around $2.3 million only from streamers which raises a thought that the amount may be much higher — for comparison, Leonardo DiCaprio got $2.5 million for his role in Titanic.

Though it’s all over between Taylor Swift and London Boy, the latter is definitely thriving — and will continue to do so — thanks to his ex-girlfriend being a true mastermind.

According to a report from Life & Style, Joe Alwyn, who supposedly had broken up with Swift around a year ago, still makes a ton lot of money just because he co-wrote some of Taylor Swift’s famous songs.

It’s all been a mystery for some time until “intelligent swifties” deciphered what — or rather who — was hiding behind the pseudonym William Bowery, the man that’s mentioned as Taylor’s co-author.

Later Taylor herself reached out to the fans admitting that she in fact had created some of her songs with Joe by her side — together they wrote Exile and Betty from the Folklore album, Champagne Problems, Coney Island and Evermore from the Evermore album and Sweet Nothing from the Midnights album.

Joe Alwyn

As many of Taylor Swift’s devoted fans can reassure, all these songs got their fame moment and reached impressive results on streaming services.

But now that Joe Alwyn and the singer are not together anymore, it doesn’t mean that the actor is deprived of his copyright — quite the opposite, he’s still being generously rewarded for his part on Taylor’s albums.

Though Alwyn still keeps his professional path as an actor, it’s definitely not the biggest source of his income. Several reports suggest that his estimated net worth from acting is around $4 million while his recent “salary” of Swift’s co-writer has reached $2.3 million counting only Spotify streams alone, with other services’ streams and Taylor’s live performances as additional money sources.

Thus, it doesn’t appear to be difficult to calculate that Alwyn’s earnings as a songwriter may be equal to or even higher of those that he had made thanks to acting. Just for a comparison, Leonardo DiCaprio received almost the same amount, $2.5 million, for his breakthrough role in Titanic — not counting the percentage share of gross that followed after the film’s phenomenal success, of course.

Be that fair or not, but Taylor made her ex-boyfriend quite a rich guy without even noticing it. Now it’s pretty clear that Joe Alwyn can freely walk Taylor’s piece of mind in the shoes she gave him as a present — and he definitely doesn’t need to work hard anymore.
