Who is the mole in MobLand? The season 1 finale handed Harry the name — and he kept it to himself

MobLand spent ten episodes dangling one question over the Harrigan family like a chandelier at a mob wedding: who's the rat? People died over wrong answers. Poor Archie died over a wrong answer in episode one.

And with season 2 hitting Paramount+ on September 18, it's the perfect moment to appreciate what the finale actually did with that reveal — because it's meaner and smarter than a standard whodunit unmasking. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Enormous ones.

The name

The mole is O'Hara Delaney — the Harrigan family lawyer, played with silky plausible deniability by Lisa Dwan. Per the finale's accounting, she'd spent about a year quietly feeding intel to Richie Stevenson while the fentanyl money reshuffled everyone's loyalties. The family solicitor. The one person professionally required to know where every body is buried, selling the map.

The nastiest wrinkle: Conrad executed his oldest friend Archie on suspicion of being the rat, in front of the whole family, in episode one. O'Hara stood there and watched. Kevin gets to deliver that receipt to his father in prison, and it lands like a wrecking ball.

What Harry does with it

Here's the part that makes Harry Da Souza the best fixer on television. Tom Hardy's character gets the name — and tells no one. Not Conrad. Not Kevin. Nobody.

Instead of a bullet, O'Hara gets a job: she becomes the bait. Harry lets her keep playing double agent just long enough to hand Richie the location of the Harrigan safe house and a meeting at her office — both of which are traps. Bombs, ambushes, and by the end of the night the Stevenson war is over, and so is O'Hara. The secret Harry kept was the weapon.

Who killed Tommy in MobLand? The truth was beaten out of the man who disposed of the body

The stabbing heard round the group chat

Then, because this show is allergic to letting anyone exhale, Harry survives an entire gang war and gets knifed in his own kitchen by his wife, mid-argument. Co-creator Jez Butterworth rushed to calm everyone down:

"We're not gonna — We love Harry. We love Tom."

He's alive, in other words, and the choice was deliberate — Butterworth put it as the point of the whole season: after ten episodes of walking through fire, "what happens at the end is the one thing he's not expecting."

Ten episodes of cartel negotiations, zero scratches. One domestic argument, one chest wound. If that's not the show's thesis statement about where the real danger lives, I don't know what is. See you September 18.
