Who is Zeke's mother in Gangs of London? One photo in his flat told Ed Dumani everything
Gangs of London spent a season hiding who its new assassin worked for. The bigger secret was who his father was, and Ed Dumani found it pinned to a bedroom wall.
Zeek Kimura's mother is Emi Kimura, played by Akiko Hitomi, and she was Finn Wallace's lover. That makes Zeek (Andrew Koji, and yes, the credits spell it Zeek) Finn's illegitimate son and the half-brother of Sean Wallace, the man Zeek killed in series 3 of Sky's crime saga). Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati) works it out in episode 7, standing in Zeek's flat in front of two photographs.
Series 3 ran on Sky Atlantic from March 20 to May 8, 2025, with Koji as its new wildcard: a hooded assassin who swapped Elliot's cocaine shipment for a fentanyl-spiked batch that killed hundreds of people. By episode 7, Zeek has done his jobs and left town, and Ed goes looking for him.
What Ed finds in the flat
Ed breaks in and finds a woman's bedroom full of memorabilia and photos, per Sky's own episode 7 explainer. Two pictures do the work:
- The first photo: Ed freezes in front of it. He recognizes the woman.
- The second photo: It's of Finn Wallace, and it tells Ed the rest. Zeek is Finn's son.
The episode cuts between the break-in and Zeek's own goodbye. He visits his mother at a mental health facility, where she lives with severe burns down one side of her face and body. He does her nails and mentions that she tried to hurt herself again, and when he tells her he has to go away for a while, she asks him what he's done. The show never explains how she got burned.
Ed leaves the flat and tracks Zeek through Ray, a guitar-shop owner who fronts gun sales and once vouched for him. Ray hands over a card with Zeek's details. Then Ed shoots him.
Why the photo matters
Ed knew better than anyone what that picture meant, because he'd helped put Zeek to work. Zeek's employers in series 3 were Ed and his daughter Shannon (Pippa Bennett-Warner), and Sean was killed on Ed's order.
Ed Dumani recognized Emi Kimura on sight. What decades as Finn Wallace's partner never told him was that she'd had Finn's son, and he learned it only after that son had killed Sean for him.
The secret doesn't stay in the flat for long. In the finale, Zeek leaves a phone and a note at Marian Wallace's house that reveal his part in Sean's murder, according to TV Insider. Marian uses the phone to expose Ed as the man behind both the spiking and her son's death, and then she shoots him in the head.

Koji had described his character long before any of that aired, and his description reads differently once you know who Zeek's father was.

In the same interview, Koji called Zeek driven by "jealousy, ambition, revenge and a whole lot of anger and pain," and suggested the abandoned children's home where Zeek fights Elliot in episode 6 could be where he grew up. If that's right, Finn's legitimate sons got an empire, and his other son got a children's home and a mother in care.

Zeek's return in series 4
Zeek survives series 3, and he's the engine of series 4. Sky started filming in April 2026, and the official synopsis promises the reemergence of Zeek Kimura, now "backed by a ruthless international syndicate" that puts the Wallaces, Luan, Lale and Elliot all in danger. According to Sky's finale explainer, the lead writer has also set up a storyline between Zeek and Lale.
"His backstory, obviously, has a real connection with the Wallaces."

Sope Dirisu is back as Elliot, alongside Bennett-Warner as Shannon and T'Nia Miller as Simone. New cast includes Tamara Lawrance as Jo Malik, plus Luna Fujimoto, Eugene Nomura and Melika Foroutan in roles Sky hasn't announced. There's no premiere date yet.
Finn Wallace has been dead since the first episode of the first series, and his secrets are still getting people killed. Series 4 brings back the one he kept best, with a syndicate behind him.
