The Hunger Games’ next prequel movie titled Sunrise on the Reaping is about to introduce a completely new story with some recurring characters, including Panem’s villainous President Snow.
Set 40 years after The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and 24 years before The Hunger Games, Sunrise on the Reaping will witness the beginning of Haymitch Abernathy’s personal feud with the country’s dictator that starts when he brings his own vengeance on the former and his loved ones right after the 50th Hunger Games.
In the upcoming movie President Snow, portrayed by Tom Blyth in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and Donald Sutherland in The Hunger Games’ original movie series, will get an exciting new look thanks to Conclave’s actor who has been recently cast for the role.
Ralph Fiennes Will Portray President Snow in ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’
Coming off as an experienced on-screen villain from the Harry Potter movie series and Steven Spielberg’s Schindler's List, Ralph Fiennes will star as one of the leads in Sunrise on the Reaping, the events of which unfold during the time when President Snow is around 58 years old.
“We wanted to honor Donald Sutherland by having one of this generation’s greatest actors play President Snow 24 years before Katniss Everdeen entered the arena. Working with Ralph has been on my bucket list since he traumatized me for life in ‘Schindler’s List.’ It’s genuinely a thrill to welcome him to the Hunger Games”, the future movie’s producer Nina Jacobson revealed in a statement shared by Variety upon Fiennes’ official casting.

On par with Daniel Craig and Donald Sutherland’s son Kiefer Sutherland, Fiennes was also considered one of the most perfect contenders for middle-aged President Snow’s role long before the actual official casting announcement came around.
