This theory is incredibly popular among fans of the magical saga.

Harry Potter fans often wonder why such powerful beings — capable of stopping a train or destroying a Dementor with a flick of a wand — are forced to hide in basements, enchanted villages, and dormitories sealed with portal locks. Why haven’t they taken over? Why haven’t they declared to the world who really controls the elements?

The world isn’t ruled by those with wands — but by those with power

There’s a theory that sounds disturbingly plausible: Muggles have already defeated the wizards. Not in a fair duel, not with fire or steel, but with cunning. Magic is great, yes — but it is still a resource. And like any resource, it can be exhausted. History knows examples where Muggles burned witches and wizards at the stake, tracked them down through informants, and wiped them out en masse. Even if half survived, the other half perished — and the balance was lost.

The Statute of Secrecy as a form of surrender

Perhaps the International Statute of Secrecy isn’t a protection of the magical world — but a treaty of defeat. A surrender pact made with Muggle rulers who said, "You can live — just stay out of the way." Let’s not forget: the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom receives personal briefings from the Ministry of Magic. It is Muggles who give the 'go-ahead' for moving dragons, deploying Aurors, and hunting werewolves in populated areas.

Magic fears systems

Magic is chaotic. It grows out of emotion, fear, love, and anger. Muggles, on the other hand, have built bureaucracy, science, intelligence agencies, systems of suppression and control. If a wizard were to appear publicly tomorrow, Muggles would, within a day, compile a dossier, install surveillance, launch drones, and find their weakness. And a wizard? He stands alone. While they are millions.

Wizards hide because they’ve tried living in the open once — and lost. Now they protect their secrets, their schools, and their portals. Because magic is a miracle. And Muggles are a system. And when a system collides with a miracle, the system wins. Quietly. Silently. Forever.
