Apple TV+’s The Studio gave a major boost to the career of Ike Barinholtz’s character in the latest episode, but not everyone might have got the idea why. We break down what actually happened at that Golden Globes ceremony.

Seth Rogen’s Hollywood-ish satire series The Studio isn’t done yet with major troubles for Matt Remick and his friend/work buddy Sal Saperstein, with a second season now being confirmed for Apple TV+’s hit series.

The Studio’s latest episode captured the moment that fans have been most excited about as it saw Continental Studios’ bosses heading to the Golden Globe ceremony; the outcome, however, was just as unexpected as it was absurdly hilarious.

Despite Matt’s hopes for a recognition, it was Sal who (literally) was getting all the applause. Here’s why things turned out this way.

In Seth Rogen’s TV series, Sal Saperstein, portrayed by Ike Barinholtz, is Continental's vice president of production and also Matt’s close friend.

Initially having lost a promotion to Matt, Sal becomes his right-hand person, following him everywhere in an attempt to please the new boss and at the same time trying to outsmart his younger co-workers who are tempted by his position’s privileges.

Due to his hot temper, Sal gets frequently involved in heated discussions with colleagues which also causes some messy, but still pretty funny situations.

Despite generally not getting into the spotlight for participating in the movie creation process, Sal suddenly receives some kind of homage from his longtime friend Adam Scott who receives the Golden Globe award in the show’s episode 8.

Soon afterwards Scott’s ‘thank you’ to Sal provokes a hilarious domino effect, with everyone else after him coming up on stage and thanking Sal Saperstein for helping them make it to the award-winning movie.

Ike Barinholtz Breaks Down on ‘Appropriate’ Golden Globe Episode Shooting

It was the first time The Studio had yet to celebrate something really big, which also made the show’s helmers think about creating an atmosphere that would correspond — with beverages included.

“The Golden Globes [episode] was really great. Because we shot at the Beverly Hilton, and we're shooting so much all day, but we would still break for an hour for lunch, and we would just be like, 'Hey, there's a restaurant up there. You guys want to go maybe European style, have a glass of wine at lunch?’” Barinholtz revealed in an interview with People.

The actor also added that everyone involved, including Adam Scott, would later join the celebration lunch treating themselves to a couple of Aperol Spritz.

“Which is appropriate. You should have one drink when you're shooting an episode about the Golden Globes, where everyone is drunk”, Barinholtz specified.

When Is The Studio Next Episode Coming?

The show’s season 1 episode 9 will be released on Apple TV+ on May 14.
