The excitement for the new Superman continues to build as the final trailer hits the internet. The trailer shows a bold new direction for the iconic hero now played by David Corenswet. Many fans still have one question, though: what happened to Henry Cavill?
What Happened to Henry Cavill as Superman?
Back in October 2022, Cavill got us all hyped when he announced his return as Superman. Yet just two months later, he had to break hearts with an Instagram post saying he wasn't coming back after all (ouch!).
Why? DC wanted to take Superman in a totally different direction with a younger version of the character. Since Cavill had been our Man of Steel since 2013, this new vision just didn't fit with his established Superman.
Was letting Cavill go the right call? It's complicated. While we totally love Cavill's take on Superman (who doesn't?), the new direction for DC kind of makes sense. It's a new story with a new Superman. Still, the way it all went down left a pretty bitter taste.
Fans Are Divided on David Corenswet as the Next Superman
