6666 has sat on every Yellowstone spinoff list since Paramount+ greenlit it in February 2021. Jefferson White's Jimmy Hurdstrom got shipped to the Four Sixes at the end of season 4 specifically to set it up. Paramount even announced it again at its 2022 Upfront.

Taylor Sheridan killed it on a podcast.

Speaking on Dale Brisby's Rodeo Time in August 2026, Sheridan said flatly that there's never going to be a 6666 series, and that he would never fictionalize the ranch. He and a group of investors bought the real Four Sixes in Texas in 2020, and he considers inventing drama around a working ranch off-limits.

The Jimmy footage is already the whole story

Sheridan's argument is that the spinoff would be redundant, because the arc he wanted has already aired:

"I've actually got on my computer all the scenes of Jimmy at the Four Sixes pulled out and strung together," he said on Rodeo Time in 2026, calling the result a perfect little movie.

His summary of that cut: Jimmy shows up as a misfit and leaves a man and a respected cowboy. Roughly a season's worth of scenes, no new script required.

Why he won't fictionalize the ranch

Real people live and work at the Four Sixes, and a weekly drama would mean writing storylines for them — or around them. Sheridan pointed to Heath Ownby, general manager of the Waggoner Ranch, who appears in Yellowstone as himself, as the kind of detail that reads true to cowboys watching. Sustaining a series, he argued, would require making up lives on land where actual families raise their kids.

The timeline of a spinoff that never was

  • 2020 — Sheridan and investors purchase the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas.
  • February 2021 — Paramount+ greenlights 6666, with Sheridan producing alongside John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, and Bob Yari.
  • Late 2021 — Jimmy is sent to the ranch in the Yellowstone season 4 finale, wiring the setup into the flagship.
  • 2022 — Paramount promotes the project at its Upfront presentation.
  • Later — development quietly shifts from Paramount+ to Paramount Network, then goes silent.

So what happens to Jimmy?

Nothing, officially. His story ends where season 4 left it, and Sheridan has shown no interest in revisiting it elsewhere in a universe that now includes Landman, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, 1923, and the Dutton Ranch continuation.

For the record: the Four Sixes still turns up on screen constantly. It just stays a location instead of a title.
