Why Miranda Lambert Is a Perfect American Idol Mentor

Miranda Lambert made an appearance as a mentor for Top 10 American Idol contestants. Here’s why she should definitely make more of them.
As the tension builds toward the finale of American Idol Season 23, the show has brought in a powerful figure who knows a thing or two about making dreams come true.
Country queen Miranda Lambert took her mentoring role on American Idol seriously. And we'd love to see her come back both as a performer and a mentor.
Miranda Lambert Had the Greatest Approach to Mentorship on American Idol
During her behind-the-scenes interview to American Idol, Lambert opened up about her mentoring philosophy.
“My approach to being a mentor on Idol is just tell them the truth. I feel like authenticity is what has gotten me this far in my career, and I want to pass that knowledge on because I think it's really important.”
That alone brings some fresh air into the competition. Coupled with her powerhouse performance of her hit Kerosene, we would argue that she is one of the best mentors American Idol has seen.
Miranda Lambert Has a Very Personal Relationship With Mentoring
What makes Lambert's mentorship even more meaningful is her own experience being guided by people at the start of her career. In the same interview, she revealed:
“When you're a young emerging artist, they [country music community] kind of act as a mentor because it's kind of a family, country music. I think I have had sort of a lot of mentors in different ways.”

“I'm not really a Miranda fan normally. I've never found her personable, but I've really enjoyed her feedback to the contestants,” Redditor teachandspin wrote.
“Miranda has been a gem tonight, this moment with Gabby got me tearing up,” another fan, otyler44 on Reddit said.
Miranda Lambert Voted for Carrie Underwood Back in the Days
In addition to being a country icon and a great mentor, did you know that Lambert is a huge fan of Carrie Underwood?
“My Idol memory is Carrie Underwood. Honestly, I remember watching her and voting for her and thinking this gal's going to go do some big stuff,” Lambert said.
Underwood has been criticized throughout the season, so we're glad to see someone has her back.
