One major character has become the most certain victim of one of the biggest tragedies in Desperate Housewives, but there was something else that left a lasting impact on Wisteria Lane.

Having wrapped up more than a decade ago, Marc Cherry’s Desperate Housewives remains one of the most dramatical TV pieces that modern audiences have ever seen.

That idea is supported by lots of twists and turns that sooner or later lead to one or several major characters’ death, including that terrifying plane crash sequence that affected Wisteria Lane during a holiday celebration.

As a result, Susan’s former husband Karl Mayer dies instantly, with more characters like Orson Hodge and Celia Solis getting severe injuries. However, the crash is also what becomes the main reason for Lynette Scavo’s biggest dilemma.

In Desperate Housewives’ season 6 episode 10, Lynette seeks ways to make amends with Gaby after their fallout in previous episodes.

She does find one when she saves Gaby’s daughter Celia from the plane rushing towards her, though eventually Lynette is the one to get hurt and to lose one of her twin babies that haven’t been born yet.

She later figures out that the baby boy could have actually been saved by being born prematurely, but that would have caused serious complications and even health issues that both Lynette and her child would be struggling with in the future.

In the end, Lynette realizes that, despite having lost her kid forever, the whole thing could have been way worse had she decided to keep the baby after the crash.

Even though things did tend to be more and more dramatic as the show progressed, some felt like Desperate Housewives’ creators went way too far with this, especially since Karl’s death didn’t look that plausible.

“I almost couldn’t take it seriously. Edie’s death I feel exactly the same way. it’s agreed that if these things didn’t happen then it wouldn’t be the big ball of drama and entertainment that we know and love, but it’s still worth a mention”, a user explained in a show-related thread.

“The plane crash was just so wild and unbelievable. Killing Carl felt unnecessary as well tbh lol I feel like he could’ve exited bree’s storyline without a death”, chicagoantisocial said.
