A plot twist we never asked for.
'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' was a mind-blowing movie, particularly due to how it put Wanda Maximoff in the place of a villain, to a weird mixture of fan love and confusion. After fighting alongside the Avengers and saving the universe, Wanda, corrupted by the Darkhold, turned against Doctor Strange and endangered the world just to find her children she created in her own reality.
That was just bizarre, wasn't it? But it's not the only weird thing about the movie. As Wanda grew closer with the chaos magic and perks it provided, there were several things that did not fall into place.
One Reddit fan theory breaks them down in a way that leads to a truly unexpected conclusion. When Wanda entered the castle on the Wundagore mountain, it already had images and statues of her; however, the stone guardians that were supposed to serve her failed to recognize her.
Maybe that's because that wasn't her? Recalling the comics, the fan theory pointed at how Immortus (one of the variants of Kang the Conqueror) captured and controlled Wanda in order to achieve his goals. Similarly, the theory continues, Kang could have already used Wanda in 'Multiverse of Madness' as a nexus to create the Sacred Timeline.
That could explain why the guardians did not recognize her, and that's why we are yet to see the so-called "next big bad guy" to replace Thanos, the theory suggests.
However, even though the upcoming new Avengers movie is titled 'The Kang Dynasty', Marvel might as well surprise fans with someone absolutely new and just as big and bad as Thanos or Kang. With this cinematic universe, you just never know who to expect – especially when they remain a mystery throughout the entire phase.
'Avengers: The Kang Dynasty' comes out on May 2, 2025.
