Will There Be a 'Good Omens' Finale? Michael Sheen Is Not So Sure: "Out of Our Hands"

Due to the Neil Gaiman scandal, Good Omens will not receive a third season. Instead, a special will be released. However, Michael Sheen doubts that this will happen.
Good Omens was supposed to be a great TV series. After all, it's based on a cult book about the apocalypse by two of the best modern fantasy authors – Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
Amazon ordered the series and invited excellent actors to star in it, including Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jon Hamm.
It seemed to be the perfect recipe for success. Unfortunately, one scandal ruined everything.
'Good Omens' Is Supposed to End With a 90-Minute Special…
In 2024, Neil Gaiman was accused of sexual assault. Amid the scandal, Amazon Prime Video canceled Season 3 and approved a 90-minute special to end the story.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant agreed to reprise their roles as Aziraphale and Crowley. Based on the events of Season 2, the duo was supposed to save the world from the apocalypse.
…But Michael Sheen Doubts That It Will Be Released at All
Sheen confirmed in an interview with The Times that filming for the special had already been completed. However, due to the controversy surrounding Gaiman, who denies the allegations, Sheen doubts that fans will see the finale:
“I really don't know what's going to happen with it. We [Sheen and Tennant] were both relieved we finished the story, but that's within this really difficult, complicated, disturbing context. I hope people get to see it, but that, to a large extent, is out of our hands.”
However, Tennant is optimistic about the future of Good Omens. He told The Independent:
“We're doing Good Omens again. We're going back to do the final. We're doing a final. There's been a slight rejig with the personnel. But we still get to tell that story – I think it would have been very difficult to leave it on a cliffhanger.”
Neil Gaiman Scandal and Its Influence on 'Good Omens' & Other Projects
Neil Gaiman was expected to return to work on the third season of Good Omens, but he was accused of harassment in the summer of 2024 – two women claimed that Gaiman sexually abused them.
Gaiman himself did not admit guilt. Nevertheless, work on adaptations of his novels was suspended.
Netflix canceled the series Dead Boy Detectives, a spinoff of The Sandman. Disney froze development of the show The Graveyard Book, an adaptation of Gaiman's novel of the same name.
The accusations against Gaiman also affected Good Omens – work on the third season of the show was stopped indefinitely.
Immediately after Amazon suspended production of the third season, Gaiman said he was willing to step down as showrunner to ensure the continuation of the show.
