The box office of Final Destination Bloodlines screams that a seventh film must happen. However, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein have a different opinion.

Throughout the 2000s, the Final Destination franchise consistently grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office by creatively playing with the slasher without a maniac concept.

After the fifth installment, the franchise paused for a long time while the filmmakers considered options for sequels.

In the early 2020s, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein took on the project, making a new film subtitled Bloodlines as a soft reboot of the entire franchise.

Final Destination Bloodlines officially became the best film in the franchise, receiving 92% positive reviews from critics and 89% reviews from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a 7.1/10 score on IMDb, and grossing $116 million in its opening week.

Such figures naturally lead viewers to wonder if death will continue to haunt the survivors in the seventh film. The answer seems obvious: with such success, the creators are obligated to begin production on the next film immediately.

Zach Lipovsky & Adam Stein Weigh In on the Prospects of 'Final Destination 7'

However, Lipovsky and Stein are unsure about this prospect. In an interview with Collider, Lipovsky gave an honest answer to the question about the seventh movie:

“We put every idea that we possibly could think of into this movie. Every anxiety we could think of that would make for a great set piece, every small detail, every big callback that we wanted to do, every Easter egg. Everything we could think of is in this film.”

The director admitted that the Bloodline storyline allowed them to take a fresh look at the franchise and the storyline idea cried out for another film. Lipovsky continued:

“We wouldn't want to make another one unless it demanded to be made and we had another two hours of insanity to give people. I'm sure that can be done, but currently it's a bit of a head-scratcher to figure out how.”

There Will Be No 'Final Destination 7' Without a Worthy Idea

We won't see another Final Destination movie until its creators come up with a worthy idea, which makes Lipovsky and Stein the best candidates to direct the next installment.

Too many popular franchises have tried to ride the wave of popularity alone by continuing to release movies only because they attracted viewers, completely losing their creative value in the process.

However, it seems that Final Destination will avoid that fate.
