The studio seems to be very firm in its decision.

Transformers fans, we have some bad news that might come as a shock. Despite Transformers One being the best-rated film in the franchise’s history, earning an impressive 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and winning over critics with its fresh animated take on the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron, the future sequels are now uncertain.

According to Comic Book, at the recent BotCon convention, fans hoped for good news about a sequel, but director Josh Cooley delivered the opposite. He revealed that Paramount Animation currently has no plans to move forward with a follow-up. The announcement was met with boos and groans from the disappointed crowd.

Still, Cooley hasn’t given up hope completely. "I wish I had something to announce, but I don’t," he said. "Paramount Animation isn’t interested in making a sequel. That’s what I was told. I have ideas, too. It would have been cool. We’ll see what happens. You never know."

Released on September 20, 2024, Transformers One told the story of how young friends Orion Pax (Chris Hemsworth) and D-16 (Brian Tyree Henry) became mortal enemies — a fresh and compelling start to the Transformers saga. But despite the critical acclaim, the movie didn’t perform well at the box office, making just $129.4 million worldwide against a hefty budget estimated between $75 and $140 million.

For now, fans must face the harsh reality that future sequels in this beloved reboot might not come. But if there’s one thing Transformers fans know, it’s never to say never — maybe this story isn’t finished yet.
