Insider Sigmund Judge Claims Apple TV Is Working on a 'Silo' Spinoff
As insider Sigmund Judge says, Apple is developing a spinoff series based on an upcoming Hugh Howey novel focusing on events surrounding Silo 40, one of the mysterious facilities about which almost nothing is known in the main series.
There has been no official confirmation and the author publicly denied this information himself, sparking even more rumors and speculation. Some fans surmise that Howey is simply building suspense until the official announcement, while others believe that Judge might have been mistaken.
Nevertheless, circumstantial evidence suggests that the news of a spinoff is quite plausible – although filming for the original series has wrapped, the sets have not yet been dismantled.
Production of 'Silo' Season 4 Is Finished, Although the Sets Are Still There
Production on the fourth and final season of Silo wrapped up about six months ago, in March. Usually, once a series concludes, sets are quickly dismantled or sold off to free up soundstages for other projects.
However, that hasn't happened with Silo – the massive structures representing the bunkers, corridors, and shafts remain in place, suggesting that the creators plan to reuse them for a new project.
Apple TV has employed a similar strategy with other sci-fi projects, so this approach is nothing new. For example, Star City was launched within the For All Mankind universe, and another project set in the world of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has also been announced.
Preserving the sets suggests that the Silo universe could evolve into a franchise with multiple interconnected projects. If a spin-off moves forward, it could use the existing sets, which would significantly accelerate the production process.
Given Silo's popularity and critical acclaim, expanding the universe seems like a logical step.
