It’s never going to be the same.

Just like people were skeptical about Young Sheldon back in 2017 when the show had just premiered, they are now skeptical about another spinoff to extend the same universe. Georgie and Mandy ’s First Marriage has only gotten its official title, but people are ready to dismiss it months before it airs.

The reason for such an intense reaction may seem to be obvious, as people waved goodbye to Young Sheldon less than a week ago and still aren’t over it. However, there is more to fans disappointment than a bittersweet finale of their favorite sitcom.

What Is the New Young Sheldon Spinoff About?

The new spinoff will continue roughly in the timeline where Young Sheldon ends. Whether the showrunners decide to do a time jump to give the characters a moment to mourn the loss of George Cooper Sr. or pick up exactly where Young Sheldon left off is unknown, but fans can expect the same 90s Texas setting.

From what we already know thanks to The Big Bang Theory, Georgie lost touch with his younger brother Sheldon over the years, but continued to build his own life with his wife Mandy and their child. Though their marriage hasn't been the easiest and Georgie hasn't been dealt the best cards in life, he's managed to build a tire empire.

Assuming that the show will deal with these events, it is only logical that all members of the Cooper family, apart from Sheldon, will move into the supporting cast. However, according to the official information we have, as well as the cast's comments via social media, this is not the case.

For years, the best part of Young Sheldon wasn't Sheldon's persona, but the Cooper family and its dynamic. For this new show to succeed, fans will need to see more familiar faces, at least in the beginning. But Raegan Revord, who played Georgie and Sheldon's sister Missy, has already said she hasn't been approached.

Fans also have their doubts about Annie Potts, who played Meemaw, and Zoe Perry, who played Mary Cooper. While there has been no official word on whether or not they will appear, it wouldn't make much sense to include some members of the Cooper family and exclude others.

On the other hand, the majority of viewers have already been surprised by a thriving The Big Bang Theory spinoff, so there is a good chance that the showrunners will work their magic and repeat the success, no matter the cast. If you are intrigued by Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, stay tuned for more news and updates.
