Team Startefacts

I'm no Aja Romano, but I try.

Marvel, Supernatural, Star Trek, and everything fandom-related in between. If it's worth reading, watching, or listening to — I'm on it, and telling you about it.

I've been at Startefacts since the actual beginning back in 2022.

One of my early assignments was covering CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where I sat in a dark hall geeking out over Doctor Strange footage and thought: God, this is a dream job for me.

Well, turns out — not THE dream job, per se. Entertainment journalism is hard, harder than ever in 2026, with AI threatening your integrity and your work ethic at every turn. But hey: I still try. I love what I do, and I love writing about the MCU, however shitty their movies have gotten over the last few years. I'm still in my chair in a movie theater when a new Nolan movie comes out, or a Guy Ritchie movie, or frankly any Statham movie.

What I cover: the MCU and superhero cinema, long-running genre TV (Supernatural, Star Trek, and their fandoms), fan culture and how it shapes what gets made, action filmmaking and the directors who take it seriously.

How I work: I watch the thing before I write about it — the whole thing, not the recap. I rewatch scenes when my memory isn't reliable, which is often. I check release dates, credits, production history, and source material against primary sources — press notes, the books, the people who made it — not the top-ranking aggregator. If I got something wrong, I fix it and say so in the piece.

Where else to find me: Twitter/X — tips, corrections, and complaints about my Statham opinions all welcome.

Twenty-four seasons. Twenty-four chefs who survived Gordon Ramsay screaming into their soul at close range, took the $250,000, and walked out with a shiny head chef job offer.

American Idol is leaving Los Angeles after 24 seasons: California wrote a law last year to stop exactly this, and Idol didn't make the cut
California spent last year writing its first tax credit for unscripted television, partly so that shows like this one would stop leaving. Season 25 of American Idol is being built in Georgia instead, because the show could not use the credit that was written for it.

There is a specific genre of Willem Dafoe performance I would watch on a loop forever: Dafoe as a man clinging with both hands to something the universe has already decided to take from him.

Is Hanging by a Wire a true story? Where the footage inside the cable car actually came from
Every once in a while a documentary comes along that plays like a disaster thriller some studio exec would reject as "too much." Hanging by a Wire is that documentary.

Tickets went on sale at noon for Artificial, the OpenAI movie that doesn't start with Sam Altman
Everyone has filed it as the Sam Altman movie: Andrew Garfield, the hoodie, the five November days that nearly ended OpenAI. Then the festival premiering it published a synopsis, and the film turns out to begin twenty years earlier, in a Toronto lab, with a different man entirely.
