12 12 12 trailer and release date: Apple TV pits Anthony Mackie against Jamie Dornan in the biggest heist in Europe
Apple's new heist series splits one robbery across three timelines — and parks its premiere on Friday, November 13.
Apple TV released the full 12 12 12 trailer on October 13 and locked the premiere: Friday, November 13, with two episodes, then one every Friday through a finale on Christmas Day. The title is the structure — every episode of the eight-part series cuts between the 12 months of planning a heist, the 12 hours of pulling it off, and the 12 days after, built on the premise that a thief not caught within 12 days won't be caught at all.
Anthony Mackie plays a disgraced FBI agent chasing Jamie Dornan's American career criminal across Europe, with a raid on a bank vault deep under Zurich at the center. In the trailer, Mackie's agent calls it the biggest banking heist in the history of Europe, while Dornan's crew keeps one card face-down:
"And he doesn't know what we're really stealing."

The crew sheet
- The leads: Mackie and Dornan, reuniting seven years after co-starring in the 2019 indie Synchronic. Both also executive produce.
- Behind the camera: created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, with Kari Skogland (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier — yes, Mackie's own show) directing and producing.
- The ensemble: Jack Kesy, Agathe Rousselle, Kali Reis, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Sallie Harmsen, and Jose Garcia.
- The money: David Ellison and Dana Goldberg are among the executive producers, meaning the man who just bought Warner Bros. has a producer credit on Apple's Christmas heist.
The project has been cooking since 2024, when THR first reported the Mackie–Dornan pairing. Both stars arrive busier than when they signed: Mackie is Captain America with Avengers: Doomsday out December 18, and Dornan leads The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum at the end of 2027.
Don't miss: Jeremy Renner may have just spoiled Avengers: Doomsday's ending without being in it
About that date
Fans in the trailer comments are already asking why a show called 12 12 12 isn't premiering December 12. The likely boring answer is scheduling: launching November 13 lets all eight episodes land by Christmas, with the finale as a December 25 present.
The fun answer is on the calendar. November 13 is a Friday — meaning a thriller obsessed with numbers and bad odds opens on Friday the 13th, the same day Johnny Depp's Scrooge movie hits theaters. Someone at Apple checked that calendar and someone at Paramount did too.
