'28 Years Later' Was Too Much for My Nervous System, But I’ll Watch It Again — Mark Your Calendars for the Digital Release

Bring snacks, a blanket, and emotional support.
Okay, confession time: I saw 28 Years Later in theaters, and I still haven’t fully recovered. Danny Boyle’s return to the rage-infected world was brutal, beautiful, and way too real for someone who already triple-checks the door locks at night.
So when I found out it’s officially getting a digital release, I had a mix of emotions — mostly excitement… and dread.
Mark your calendars: 28 Years Later will hit digital and PVOD platforms on July 29, 2025 — just a little over a month after its theatrical release on June 20. That means we’ll soon be able to relive all the trauma from the comfort of our homes.
If you missed it in cinemas, here’s the quick and spoiler-free gist: a group of survivors is living on a remote island decades after the rage virus outbreak, but of course, someone just has to go explore the mainland.
What follows is a descent into a mutated world that’s somehow more terrifying than the original films. And yes — I totally gasped in public more than once.
I have to say, 28 Years Later doesn’t just live up to the legacy of 28 Days — it surpasses it in some ways. The atmosphere? Immaculate. The tension? Relentless. Jodie Comer? An absolute force.
And the fact that Boyle and Alex Garland are already working on a follow-up called The Bone Temple? Inject it directly into my veins.
The only thing we don’t know yet is where it’ll land in terms of subscription streaming. So far, there’s no confirmation on whether Netflix, Prime Video, or Peacock will pick it up — but it will be available for purchase or rental on platforms like iTunes and Amazon.
So if you skipped the cinema or just want to emotionally ruin yourself all over again, July 29 is your day — grab your blanket, dim the lights, and let the chaos begin.
