5 Most Intriguing Stranger Things Fan Theories You Need to Know Before Season 5 Finale

Who will be the final villain, and what is Karen Wheeler's true personality? These theories have the answer!
The Hawkins kids are older now, and the monsters are scarier than ever. There is no doubt that the finale of Stranger Things will be a big event. Viewers will probably shed tears for several reasons at once: mourning those who will not live to see the finale, and grieving the refusal to say goodbye to their favorite characters.
The Duffer Brothers have surprised viewers so many times that during the final push, we want to trust the masters completely.
While there's still time, let's break down the major fan theories.
1. Borys The Big Red Dragon
The monsters in the story are closely related to Dungeons & Dragons. Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will have been playing it since season one, and they name supernatural creatures after characters from their favorite game.
For example, Demogorgon is the Prince of Demons from D&D, while Vecna resembles a powerful sorcerer trying to ascend to divine status. Fans assumed that the next antagonist would be another monster from the game.
In the eighth episode of Season 4, Will shows Mike a picture of the best friends fighting the Red Dragon. Fans immediately assumed that the three-headed monster was a powerful character named Borys from Dungeons & Dragons, who will be the final villain of the series.
In the same episode, Vecna showed Nancy a dark future: in a vision, the town fell into chaos and a giant creature appeared.
2. Time Travel
When the characters arrived in the Upside Down looking for weapons, the team made an important discovery. It turns out that the Upside Down is not an exact copy of reality. Time in the dimension stopped on November 6, 1983 – the day Will disappeared.
Nancy looks around her room and realizes that everything around her is from the past. Due to the dynamic plot, this twist has been pushed to the background.
But there is no doubt that the Duffer Brothers will answer this question. For example, Ross Duffer confirmed that the time mystery of the Upside Down is a key plot point that will determine the final season.
Some fans believe that the characters will travel back in time to stop Henry. In addition, one of the symbols of the fourth season was an antique clock – the same one Vecna used to track his victims and whose hands were turned backwards in Nancy's vision.
Playing with time travel is a delicate and risky business – it will be difficult for the Duffers to avoid plot holes that could ruin the show and disappoint viewers.
3. Karen Wheeler's True Identity
There is another theory that we cannot ignore. This version arose after viewers carefully studied the posters for the fourth season. Each character was depicted against the backdrop of a location associated with their storyline.
For example, on Eleven's poster you can see Hawkins' lab, and Will's has a house in California. The show's creators also made a poster for Karen Wheeler, although the woman received little screen time in the season.
Even more puzzling is the fact that Karen, like several other characters, is depicted against the backdrop of the Creel house. Fans have suggested that the show's creators are hinting to Mrs. Wheeler's family ties to Henry. Perhaps she is the sister of the antagonist who survived her brother's attack.
4. Eleven Will Sacrifice Herself
A tragic fate may await Eleven: she was the one who opened the Upside Down and will probably be the one who ends the story. Many fans believe that the girl will sacrifice herself to save her friends and all the inhabitants of the town, as she did in the finale of the first season.
The death of the main character would make the end of the show particularly dark. It is possible, however, that closing the Upside Down will require a sacrifice from Eleven, but she will return to Hawkins alive but without her powers. We should all be prepared for either scenario.
5. Henry Is Eleven's Dad
Another theory connected to Millie Bobby Brown's character is that Henry Creel is Eleven's biological father. The evidence is a comparison of the two characters' strengths.
The former was the most powerful of the test subjects, and Eleven was the only one who could resist him. Maybe it's all about genetics. If the fans' assumptions are correct, there is a chance to see a moment of revelation no less spectacular than in Star Wars.
It's not for nothing that the Duffer Brothers drew inspiration from George Lucas' space saga, and the fourth season in particular from Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.
