Each of these shows has received critical and audience acclaim, so why not give them a chance?

It's becoming more and more common for us to hear the extremely disappointing news that some new show on a streaming service has been canceled after just one season. Under these circumstances, it's incredibly difficult to find something new and worthwhile to watch, because once we're invested in a story, any cliffhanger could potentially turn into a heartbreaking ending.

Of course, even the highest critical and audience acclaim does not always guarantee that a particular project will be renewed — it all depends on the ratings (sadly, sometimes even incredibly high quality shows get axed).

However, the chances of a well-reviewed series becoming another casualty of the streaming services' insane quest for ratings are much lower. With that in mind, here are three 2024 releases with perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes scores that are definitely worth your time.

3. Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV

Premiere Date: March 18, 2024

Genre: Documentary, True crime

Number of Episodes: 5

Where to Watch: Max, Discovery+

Our list kicks off with Quiet on Set, a documentary miniseries airing on Investigation Discovery and available for streaming on Max and Discovery+ that has already generated a tremendous amount of discussion across media and social platforms in just two weeks of airing. The new documentary explores the dark side of Nickelodeon, revealing the toxic and misogynistic work culture on set, the underlying sexualization of many children's shows, and even the sexual abuse of child actors. The series focuses on Dan Schneider's work as a producer at Nickelodeon in the '90s and '00s, but the story also delves into the accounts of former child actors who were abused by the network's staff, including dialogue coach Brian Peck and production assistant Jason Michael Handy.

Silence on the Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV was praised by critics and viewers and reignited the debate about exploitative conditions in television.

2. We Were the Lucky Ones

Premiere Date: March 28, 2024

Genre: Historical drama

Number of Episodes: 8

Where to Watch: Hulu

Next, we can't help but recommend the war drama We Were the Lucky Ones, based on the book of the same name by Georgia Hunter. The plot revolves around the story of the Kurcs, a wealthy family of Polish Jews who managed to survive the waves of anti-Semitism in Poland, but were subjected to the Holocaust perpetrated by Nazi Germany. The series tells the story of how tragedy divided the Kurcs, whose members found themselves either in concentration camps or in exile, and then tried to reunite with lost relatives.

Critics and audiences alike loved this heartbreaking family story, especially the performances of Joey King and Logan Lerman as siblings separated by war.

1. Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show

Premiere Date: March 29, 2024

Genre: Documentary, Comedy

Number of Episodes: 8

Where to Watch: HBO

Finally, our list concludes with a new comedy documentary developed by stand-up comedian and filmmaker Jerrod Carmichael, for whom this is not his first project on HBO. The series presents staged events interspersed with unscripted moments in which Carmichael attempts to navigate his personal life. Much emphasis is placed on the comedian's relationship with his family, including his strained relationship with his mother due to his own homosexuality, as well as trying to make sense of the fact that his father had another family.

Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show is a dark comedy that is a boundary-pushing reflection on the complicated life of a man seeking acceptance. Despite the many staged elements, this unconventional show is incredibly honest, candid and heartbreaking.
