Sirens explores the complexities of sisterhood in a mysterious way. While there were many unexpected turns, some choices could have been better. Here's what I wanted from the show.

Molly Smith Metzler’s recent hit miniseries, Sirens, is a real gem for those who can’t live long without new dark mysteries. The show is a smartly written story that dives deep into so many topics it’s hard to start listing them.

But above all the power and class drama, there’s exploration of sisterhood and womanhood in general. Before I start complaining, here is a quick recap.

What Is ‘Sirens’ About?

The series explores the lives of three main characters: Devon, the older DeWitt sister who is forced to take care of her demented father; her younger sister Simone, who escaped the family after because of a tragedy that happened to her when she was a child; and a wealthy woman named Michaela, who only seems to be a trophy wife to a seemingly norman billionaire.

Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Julianne Moore play the roles, and they couldn’t be more perfect for their characters. The show's dark and gritty tone, as well as the intense buildup, were absolutely thrilling. Each revelation shocked viewers (me, I’m the viewers).

However, as much as I loved everything about it, I wish some plotlines had gone differently.

1. I Wanted There to Be a Murder

The show thrives on the threat of something terrible happening. And for a show that actually built so much tension around shady disappearances and secrets, a murder coming not from the main suspects but from somewhere unexpected would have been a perfect addition to the black comedy style of the miniseries.

2. I Wanted Devon to Leave With Morgan

Over the short period of time they spent together, Morgan had a strong positive impact on Devon, making it clear that he is the one thing she needs in her life now. She needs a man who won't hold her back, but will let her be calm and carefree.

There was a moment when I thought she might actually go on that trip with him. However, Devon's nature is different; her trauma, which makes her everybody’s savior, remains with her.

3. I Wanted the Class Divide to Cut Deeper

Sirens brilliantly touches on class, showing the tension between the help and the various categories of their bosses. However, it often pulls back right when things start to get uncomfortable.

Leaning harder into that conflict could have made the social commentary sharper. Still, even the little details added to this storyline were perfectly shaped to show the frustration that Simone brought upon them and Michaela’s false sense of power.

What Do Fans and Critics Think About ‘Sirens’?
