4 Severance Game-Changing Plot Twists Foreshadowed in the Season 2 Opening Sequence

The opening is done in a rather absurd and surreal style, but a closer look reveals many important details and hints.
Season 2 of Severance has a new opening that was introduced in the second episode. It has the same musical theme and animation style as the opening of the first season, but a different storyline.
The opening contains many metaphors, details, and clues to understanding the second season. Some of these details only made sense after the last episode, so we have collected the scenes that foreshadowed some of the main events.
1. The Babies Represent All of Gemma's Innie Personalities
Among the many absurd images shown in the opening credits of the second season, the most eye-catching was the scene of Mark lying surrounded by babies in office suits – and its meaning remained unclear almost until the end of the season.
We can see the 25 babies – this is the number of Gemma's innies and the files that Mark was working on. The images of Mark's wife's numerous innies in the form of babies in office suits are an obvious allegory for the fact that innies are essentially children with no memories or life experience.
It also seems to confirm Burt's words – each innie is a separate personality and soul.
2. Helly & Gemma Elevator Sequence Foreshadowed Mark's Choice in the Finale
One of the final scenes of the opening only made sense in the finale, even though the sword of Damocles of choosing between Helly and Gemma hung over Mark all season.
We see the images of Helly and Gemma changing in the elevator to the testing floor – and at the end of Episode 10, Mark's innie will look at both women, ultimately choosing Helly.
And also choosing himself – he fulfilled his duty to his outie by saving Gemma and now it's time for him to be happy – even if he and Helly only have an hour or ten minutes for that.
3. The Reintegration Process Was Hinted at by Two Scenes at Once
Two details at once pointed to the reintegration process that Mark decided to undergo. The first, less obvious, was the bottle of mixture that Mark drank after the first phase of the procedure to supposedly feel better.
The second was the shot of Mark himself trying to escape from the back of his head – a fairly obvious, yet elegant, reference to reintegration. Mark's innie breaks out into the outside world and gradually regains his outie's memories, and vice versa.
4. The Mug With Irving's Face on It Foreshadowed His Dismissal

The mug with Irving's face on it only made sense after the brilliant episode Woe's Hollow, in which Milchick organized a trip for the entire MDR division.
At the end of the episode, Irving put the pieces together and realized that Helena had been pretending to be innie all along. In an attempt to force Milchick to return Helly, he began drowning Jame Eagan's daughter – for which he was immediately fired.
To honor Irving's memory, a farewell "party" was held where we saw Irv's head carved out of a watermelon and the same cups with the man's image printed on them.
