Whether it's a duel of honor between two samurai or a large-scale battle, well-staged action scenes have captivated viewers for decades.
The second season of Solo Leveling, one of the most spectacular anime of recent years, is coming to an end soon – 11 of the planned 13 episodes have already been released.
All fans of impressive battles and dynamic storytelling should prepare themselves for the season finale – we have chosen five titles with the most insane action to watch when Solo Leveling ends.
1. Vinland Saga, 2019-2023
The main character is a boy named Thorfinn, the son of the famous warrior Thors, who was once the terror of all Vikings and then moved with his people to Iceland and founded a small village there.
When the Danish king rallies everyone under his banner to conquer England, Thorfinn secretly sneaks onto his father's drakkar and goes on a military campaign with him.
But it doesn't last long: off the coast of Denmark, Thors is ambushed and Thorfinn witnesses his father's murder. The boy vows revenge, but first he must grow up and become a great warrior.
2. Attack on Titan, 2013-2023
Titans appear on Earth – and humans are forced to hide behind three rings of gigantic walls. Civilization has been rolled back to the Dark Ages, and the best minds in humanity have yet to solve the mystery of the giants' emergence.
Eren Yeager is a boy from the borderlands who desperately wants to see the outside world, so dangerous and enticing. One day, the Titans will invade the city – and among the countless victims will be the boy's mother.
Eren vows to kill all the giants and joins the Survey Corps, a military unit that is allowed to leave the walls.
3. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, 2012-...
The first nine episodes of the first season tell the story of Jonathan Joestar, a noble gentleman and a fine, virtuous man.
His father takes in Dio Brando, whose soul is much darker than that of his adopted brother. Eventually, Dio rejects his humanity and becomes a vampire and Jonathan's sworn enemy.
The second story focuses on Joseph Joestar, Jonathan's grandson, who in turn encounters an even older evil in the form of the Pillar Men, proto-vampires who consider themselves superior to humanity.
4. Gungrave, 2003-2004
The Millenion crime syndicate was once known as a bastion of justice and honor. With a change in leadership, they have changed tactics, and now the city is in the grip of "Bloody" Harry McDowell.
The only one who can stand up to him is Beyond the Grave, a living dead man armed with heavy pistols and a coffin of firearms hanging on chains behind his back.
In the second half, the series shifts from crime drama to action sci-fi. But at the same time, Gungrave surprises with the integrity of the story and an intriguing plot.
5. Deadman Wonderland, 2011
Ganta is the only survivor of a school massacre: the mysterious Red Man has wiped out all his classmates. Soon after, Ganta is accused of mass murder and sent to Deadman Wonderland, a special prison where inmates fight for the amusement of spectators.
Ganta wants to prove his innocence, so he decides to find the Red Man, discovering an unusual ability to control his own blood and turn it into a weapon.
You shouldn't expect a very sophisticated plot, but there are no problems with stylish action and a dark atmosphere. In addition, Deadman Wonderland does not shy away from showing cruelty and the dark sides of the characters.
