The finale of the first season was truly something. On a hunt for another Prism Shard, Sonic and his crew suddenly encounter Rusty Rose — a twisted robotic version of Emy who fights with the Chaos Council (basically, she’s with Dr Eggman in this universe).
Without any spoilers, let us just say this finale feels pretty dark for a Sonic the Hedgehog story — and the cliffhanger would leave you shaken if you were watching Sonic Prime as an ongoing back in 2022.

This is the episode where Sonic encounters Chaos Sonic — game fans would say that his new rival resembles Metal Sonic in a way. In the series, however, Chaos Sonic is a brainchild of Mr Dr Eggman to best the real Sonic — as the robot himself describes it, he is “like regular Sonic with twice the charm and none of the failure.” But is a hero truly defined by simply never failing?

Seriously, just go watch season 2. Its finale is one of the highest-rated episodes in the series, and if you thought that season 1 ending was grim, wait until you see this one. The Paradox Prism is reassembled, and even the grand battle with the Chaos Council isn’t the biggest deal of the episode. A certain betrayal is.

Another highest-rated episode of Sonic Prime is an opener for season 2, in which Shadow confronts Sonic in the void of the Shatterverse and calls him out for basically being the reason for the multiverse being created. The episode is perfect if you always liked Shadow more than Sonic — and don’t worry, we listen, we don't judge.
