Task was created by Brad Ingelsby, who is known for Mare of Easttown. Given his previous experience, Ingelsby is excellent at combining a twisted detective thriller with a drama about the characters' personal problems. Mark Ruffalo will play the lead role of Tom.

The officer begins to suspect that the school principal, who proclaims herself an expert on adolescent problems, is behind all the strange events.

This dark series is comedian Mae Martin's original project. She came up with the plot, acted as showrunner, and played the main role. Wayward deserves attention for Toni Collette's role alone – she will play Evelyn, the manager of the center for troubled teenagers.
