5 Upcoming TV Shows Adapted From Books Like Game of Thrones’ Next Spinoff

Some of those might become the releases you anticipate the most this year.
Book adaptations aren’t a rare finding on modern TV since probably a half of the current most successful shows derive from someone else’s original source.
With an amount that big of such series which already landed on digital platforms, 2025 will see the arrival of many more, led by Game of Thrones ’ long-awaited spinoff titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Apart from bringing joy to those who have long remained the original books’ fans, these series will also mark another year of genre versatility on TV, offering its potential viewers a mysterious sci-fi story, an epic period drama or a thrilling narrative about family secrets.
The choice is yours.
The Better Sister

However, there’s at least one thing that makes their lives inseparably connected — they were both married to Adam, whose murder eventually brings the sisters together and forces them to unravel their darkest secrets to each other.
The show has no release date yet, but is set to stream on Prime Video sometime this year.
Long Bright River
Starring Amanda Seyfried and Ashleigh Cummings as the leads, the limited series is based on Liz Moore’s book of the same name and follows Philadelphia police officer Mickey dealing with a personal dilemma as she embarks on a search for her sister who went missing.
Gradually, things are getting clearer about Mickey and Kacey's relationship strained by the latter’s struggles with addiction, and the series, just like the book, might not stay away from jumping to the past, trying to find a precise moment when the sisters’ relationships fell apart.
Long Bright River will be released on Peacock on March 13.
Dope Thief
Apple TV+ ’s next crime drama is a must-watch for those who couldn’t have enough of Wagner Moura in Narcos.
The upcoming series is based on Dennis Tafoya’s 2009 novel of the same name and follows Ray and Manny, two best friends deciding to pretend to be DEA agents so that they could easily steal from drug dealers. However, the shady deal turns out to have even worse consequences when the two realise they robbed a wrong person and now have to stay away from the lifestyle they chose.
Dope Thief will arrive on Apple TV+ sometime in 2025.
