The future sci-fi series stars Alexander Skarsgård and has a potential to become Apple TV+’s newest big hit.

With already six episodes in, Severance ’s new season is getting closer to its finale which is currently scheduled for release on March 21 on Apple TV+. Considering that it took roughly 3 years for the series to come back on the screen after its premiere season, there might be another long wait until Severance returns with season 3.

Additionally, those fond of the sci-fi genre are likely to get left with not so many new options as Silo, another Apple TV+ sci-fi hit, is also not there anymore and now set to come back to the platform with its third season sometime next year.

Luckily, the streamer still has a new arrival to fill the void in, and it just introduced the first sneak peek into the show which will land on streaming this spring.

Murderbot Is Apple TV+’s Next Potential Sci-fi Hit

Despite the show’s release date set in May, there’s a bunch of reasons for Apple TV+’s subscribers to mark their calendars as the streamer has just released the first look at Alexander Skarsgård in the leading role.

Based on Martha Wells’ book series The Murderbot Diaries, the show, with a title shortened to just Murderbot, stars Skarsgård as the titular security android who, unlike his fellow robots, has a tendency for free will and an ability to understand humans with all their weaknesses.

However, he still must hide all this deep down and keep completing dangerous assignments against his own desire to leave his robotic side apart and enjoy something that only humans could afford to so far.

Apple TV+ Is Having More Plans for Sci-fi Genre in the Future

Having become a pure mouthpiece for the genre in recent years, Apple TV+ is getting things prepared for another major release that so far has no premiere date.

Last year, the news was confirmed about the streamer having officially greenlit an adaptation of William Gibson’s cyberpunk novel Neuromancer, with the first season comprising 10 episodes.

Apple TV+ also dropped a press release at around the same time, stating that the future show “will follow a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets”.
