Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) has had a revolving door of cast members throughout its impressive two-decade run.

Some of these cast members left on their own terms while others were dismissed without desiring to leave the show. Be that as it may, when it comes to the one character fans desperately want to see return to Law & Order, it's not even close.

Dr. George Huang is an overwhelming favorite, according to a user-generated poll on Reddit. In fact, Dr. Huang gathered over 70% of the votes which included other SVU cast members that departed too early, like assistant district attorney Casey Novak (Diane Neal) and detective Monique Jeffries (Michelle Hurd). Nonetheless, when it came to picking a beloved supporting character that no longer exists on SVU, Huang stole the show.

The character, who was played by BD Wong, first appeared in the second season of Law & Order: SVU. Huang was initially an FBI agent that was lent to the Manhattan Police Department, Special Victims Unit.

However, after a tumultuous beginning with the other detectives in the department, Huang was promoted to the resident forensic psychiatrist as well as a criminal profiler.

Dr. Huang, who has always been incredibly smart and crafty, has been noteworthy throughout the several seasons he appeared on the show for understanding and empathizing with suspects and victims. For this reason, the character emerged as a fan favorite with an ability to remain calm and collected in any situation.

Despite it, the character was unexpectedly removed from the main cast following the season 12 episode "Bombshell". Consequently, it took until the end of season 13 (S13; E20: "Father Dearest") for the writers to provide any type of explanation for why Dr. Huang was removed from SVU. And, while it's made known that Huang has relocated for assignment in Oklahoma City, he does appear sporadically throughout seasons 14-17.

The guest star appearances, sadly, haven't been enough to feed the appetite for more Special Agent Huang on SVU. The Reddit poll made it clear that Dr. Huang is by far the most missed supporting character on the show, gathering over 70% of the vote. Meanwhile, previous cast members Casey Novak (21.4%) and Det. Monique Jeffries (6.1%) were a distant second and third place, respectively.

Huang also pulled in far more votes compared to other previous co-stars, like Captain Judith Siper (Caren Browning) and Lieutenant Ruben Morales (Joel de la Fuente) who received less than 1% of the overall vote. The general consensus was that Dr. Huang is the most deserving of returning to Law & Order because, as one Redditor puts it: "[he] adds [the] most to the show". Moreover, Redditors are not thrilled with how the executives of Law & Order handled his premature exit from the TV series, indicating writers need to develop a more proper way of saying goodbye.

We'll have to see if SVU has any plans of bringing George Huang back to the show. The character hasn't appeared in an episode since season 17. Therefore, it's difficult to predict if a reunion is planned anytime soon.
