If you are a longtime Supernatural fan and you think you are ready for The Winchesters... we warn you: it might get really emotional.

Warning: the following article contains spoilers for The Winchesters pilot episode

With the newly-released The Winchesters pilot episode making waves in the Supernatural fandom, people are trying to wrap their minds around the fact that the monster-hunting family is back on their screens again. And this is not only about Jensen Ackles ' Dean Winchester being seemingly alive and well but also about the resemblance he shares with his mother, Mary Winchester, who is portrayed by Meg Donnely.

"Mary is so Dean. Like so freaking Dean. The way she drives. The way she carries the guilt. The way she's so in charge," Twitter fan starkskypines noted.

The way Mary and Dean are so alike appears to make fans so emotional they can barely hold it together. Mary does seem to be an actual female version of Dean Winchester: for instance, when she first bumps into John on her way out of the cinema, she notes how she never watched the movie but was there simply for snacks. We won't be too surprised if she grabbed a pie, huh?

The Supernatural Easter Egg in The Winchesters Only True Fans Spotted

At the same time, people noted how Sam-like John Winchester is in his turn: not only does Drake Rodgers boast a striking resemblance to young Jared Padalecki but also the two behave in a very similar way.

For some people, however, such parallels don't work — mainly because they remember the canon too well.

"people saying mary is dean i was not born to read deanmary parallels when i watched supernatural and sammary was right there in front of my eyes this is the apocalypse the world is over for me." - @samcaged

In Supernatural, fans would frequently parallel Dean with his father in his brutality and inability to display emotions very well, while Sam was a lot more like Mary — empathetic and struggling to have a normal life. The Winchesters, however, seem to be turning things upside down — and this is clearly not the first instance of the prequel doing so.

The pilot episode leaves a lot of fan questions unanswered: we still don't know the extent of the story's connection to the original show, where in the Supernatural timeline Dean Winchester is, and what surprises may await the viewers in the future.

The answers may arrive very soon, though. New episodes of The Winchesters will premiere on The CW every Tuesday.
