'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms': Release Date, Cast & Everything We Know

Another show from George R.R. Martin's universe, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is on the way, and here's everything you need to know about the upcoming series.
Another project set in George R.R. Martin's world of Westeros will be released early next year – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is set nearly a century before the events depicted in Game of Thrones.
George R.R. Martin himself has already watched the upcoming season and stated that he is pleased with the work done. Here's what we know about the show so far.
When Will 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Be Released?
HBO CEO Casey Bloys confirmed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere in January 2026.
The first season will consist of six episodes based on the first novella, The Hedge Knight. If the series is successful, HBO plans to adapt the remaining two novellas – The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight.
What Will 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Be About?
The series will take place 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones. As in Martin's original works, the narrative will focus on two main characters.
The first is a knight named Duncan the Tall. Ser Duncan will be remembered in Westerosi history as a symbol of chivalry, but his squire, Egg, is a far more interesting figure.
Beneath the guise of an ordinary boy lies Aegon V, a member of the Targaryen house and the future fifteenth King of Westeros.
It will depict one of the most famous jousting tournaments in the history of the Seven Kingdoms – the Ashford Tournament – after which the main characters embark on a journey to Dorne.
'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Creators
Ira Parker, who previously worked on A Song of Ice and Fire as part of the House of the Dragon team, wrote the pilot episode.
Ryan Condal, the showrunner of House of the Dragon, has been named one of the producers of the project. George R.R. Martin is closely involved with the project as well and will serve as an executive producer on the upcoming series.
'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Cast
Irish actor Peter Claffey has been cast as Ser Duncan the Tall. Claffey has appeared in several notable projects, including the series Bad Sisters, Vikings: Valhalla and the drama Small Things Like These with Cillian Murphy.
Dexter Sol Ansell will play Egg. While the two lead actors will be the focus, several other notable actors will appear, as the first novella involved representatives of several noble houses of Westeros.
Bertie Carvel, Sam Spruell, and Finn Bennett will play three Targaryen princes: Baelor, Maekar, and Aerion.
Additionally, Daniel Ings will appear as Lyonel Baratheon, and Henry Ashton will portray the Targaryen prince Daeron the Drunken.
