The Modern Family actor is a living proof that sometimes you just have to take it easy.

While other Hollywood actors spent weeks trying not to blow a major role they think will be their breakout in the industry, Adam Devine lets it all go as it does, sometimes not even reading the script.

The actor, who had a major role in the hit sitcom Modern Family as a love interest of Sarah Hyland’s character, never hid the fact that his role in 2012’s musical comedy movie Pitch Perfect was some sort of an accidental luck since he didn’t even know what the film was supposed to be about.

However, Devine’s indifference towards Pitch Perfect went as far as barely agreeing to audition after his agents took it all in their hands.

Adam Devine Says He Sacrificed His Lunch Time for ‘Pitch Perfect’ Audition

The preparations for the movie’s production were happening at the time when Devine didn’t really have time for working on yet another project, spending all his time on the set of Workaholics’ season 2.

Being on board as one of the co-creators, producers and main actors, Devine was initially resistant when his agents suggested he try to get into Pitch Perfect.

As it turned out, Pitch Perfect fans owe it to the actor’s agents who secretly rearranged his shooting schedule so that he could audition for one of the roles during his lunch break.

“I did not prepare for that audition. I did not want to go on it. It was a thing that my agents made me do. And Workaholics, we were in the midst of shooting the second season and I was like all in”, Devine revealed during his appearance on Mohr Stories recently.

Agreeing to miss lunch, Devine arrived at the spot only to realize that this was a musical movie and he had to prepare a song he would audition with.

“The scenes went great and they're like, 'What song did you prepare?’. And I'm like, 'I didn't prepare a song’”, the actor added.

Eventually, only the lyrics for “Full House” popped up in his mind, and by this time Devine wasn’t so sure he would blow the audition. In the end, he landed the role of Bumper and even got his own spinoff Bumper in Berlin, released back in 2022.

Adam Devine Might Still Be “Butt Hurt” About ‘Workaholics’ Movie Being Cancelled at Paramount+

It’s no secret for the actor’s fans that the TV series has become one of Devine’s most beloved works, so no wonder he got seriously hurt when it was decided that Workaholics wouldn’t be getting a sequel movie after all.

The news shocked fans a couple of years ago, but mostly affected the production team that was about to start the production five weeks after Paramount+ cancelled the project.

“Welp, Paramount + decided to cancel the ‘Workaholics’ movie. Obviously, this news is the loosest butthole. We were suppose to begin filming in 5 weeks! [Paramount+] told us [we] don’t fit their new ‘global’ strategy. We are deeply butt hurt about this decision because we were so excited to bring the weird one last time”, Devine revealed in his Instagram stories back in 2023 (shared by IndieWire).
