After 'Daredevil: Born Again' Success, Another Cult Character Might Return With a New Show

Matt Murdock's return in Daredevil: Born Again was unexpected, but Marvel reportedly has even bigger plans – a solo Jessica Jones project. Here's what the insider says about it.
Although Netflix has canceled all Marvel TV series, Charlie Cox unexpectedly reprised the role of Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.
In March 2025, a new series about Matt Murdock, titled Daredevil: Born Again, was released. In his new solo show, Matt teams up with the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal. And in 2026, a special episode about Frank Castle will be released.
Jessica Jones Will Return in 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2
It's clear that Marvel Television is going to develop the stories of New York vigilantes – Jessica Jones will return in Season 2 of Born Again.
Rumor has it that all members of the Defenders team will appear in the MCU. The squad includes Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, and Iron Fist, played by Finn Jones.
Marvel Is Planning a 'Jessica Jones' Special/TV Series, According to Daniel Richtman
And it seems that the Defenders will not be limited to episodic roles. Daniel Richtman, one of the most reliable insiders, wrote on his X account that Marvel is planning to shoot a special episode or entire series about Jessica Jones:
“Marvel is discussing doing Jessica Jones as either a [TV] show or a special of her own.”
The Punisher episode will be a direct continuation of Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again. By the same logic, if Jessica Jones gets a new solo project, it should tell the story of what happened to the women after the events of Season 2 of Born Again.
Both The Punisher and Jessica Jones had their own series on Netflix. Since Frank was only given a special episode on Disney+, Jessica could do without her own series. However, everything depends on the authors' plans for her storyline.
'Jessica Jones' Rumors Divided Fans
Jessica Jones was Netflix's second project in the Marvel television universe and remains one of its most successful, although this mainly applies to the first season.
The second season introduced one of Marvel's most charismatic villains, Kilgrave, played by David Tennant. However, it was from this chapter that the series began to rapidly lose its grip, prompting fans' concerns that a new season would result in a further decline in quality.
Redditor TyrannosaurusRekts wrote:
“Would love a Jessica Jones special, but the direction that the Netflix show took left a lot to be desired.”
Meanwhile, some fans simply miss the character and hope that Jessica Jones will get her own special or series. Reddit user TheMikey2207 commented:
“I don't know why people are hating on the idea of it, it would be great to have Jessica Jones back solving cases. It's something we don't really have with the Disney+ shows.”
But it's important to remember that the news about Jessica Jones project is still just a rumor. All we can do is wait for official confirmation or denial.
