A seemingly forgotten storyline involving hostile alien species may resurface later in the series, bringing heroes and villains together against a greater threat.

The Star Wars universe had its share of aggressive alien species that tried to establish their rule over the galaxy, such as the Rakatan Empire, the Yuuzhan Vong or the Ssi-ruuk.

However, after the rights to the franchise were acquired by Disney, almost all of them remained in the old canon, now known as Legends, waiting for their turn to possibly be reintroduced into the world of Star Wars.

But one of them already exists in the current canon, and a new theory about Ahsoka 's TV series suggests that they could be a major threat, similar to Thanos in the MCU, forcing the New Republic and the remnants of the Empire to join forces against them.

The Grysk are a warlike species inhabiting the Unknown Regions, a vast region on the edge of the galaxy, and were first mentioned in the canon novel Thrawn: Alliances by Timothy Zahn.

As they began to expand their hegemony, the Grysk became embroiled in a conflict with the Chiss, the species to which Grand Admiral Thrawn belongs, which eventually led him to join the ranks of the Empire.

Though they were defeated, Thrawn believed that they would inevitably return, but for now that storyline has been left untouched.

Considering that Thrawn plays a major role in the Ahsoka TV series, it is quite possible that the show's creators will return to this seemingly forgotten story arc and have the titular Jedi and Grand Admiral join forces against an alien invasion.

Another argument in favor of this claim is that although it was mentioned earlier that the Grysk inhabit the Unknown Regions, perhaps they are not actually native to that part of the galaxy and it was merely a frontline of their expansion.

Since the series has already introduced a neighboring galaxy, it is possible that this is where the Grysk come from, and the main characters may find themselves in the middle of their hegemony later in the series.

Ahsoka episode 5 will premiere on September 12, 2023.
