Instead of an American version of Squid Game, we need a prequel telling us all about the first game ever held. Here's what Squid Game 1988 could look like.

Although Squid Game has finished its final season, it left viewers with more questions than answers. The strange ending and potential tease of an American version left fans quite disappointed. However, we have an idea that can turn things around and give the world another classic gem.

The main idea: they need to make the prequel about the first Squid Game ever held.

After the disappointing final season, we're craving more of what Season 1 had. The prequel can bring that feel back.

In Season 1, Episode 5, we learn that the first Squid Game took place in 1988. The same year the Olympics took place in South Korea, an underground game began. I can already see many parallels between the two games and perhaps some influential people taking part in both of them behind the scenes.

We could see the reactions of the first VIPs experiencing this brutal tournament for the very first time. Did they enjoy the show as much as today's VIPs do, or was the concept too shocking for some of them to handle? It would be interesting to explore that.

If you ask me, the setting alone makes Squid Game 1988 insanely appealing. The 80s backdrop would give the show a completely different vibe. Sure, the technology would be more primitive, but it could add an interesting layer to how the games are monitored and controlled.

“A prequel where it all began would be interesting. A young Oh Il - nam orchestrating it. Showing the very first players, the very first games, the first winner etc. It can be fun, bloody, scandalous, and thrilling to watch,” Redditor yonBonbonbon wrote.

“[It] would be nice if we had a prequel but it'll be long before we get one. Let the director have his rest first!” another fan on Reddit pointed out.
