The 2020s have officially become the era of reboots, remakes, and revivals – for the most part, pretty unnecessary ones (with some notable exceptions like the iCarly revival, which is *chef's kiss*).

Zoey 101's revival movie, titled Zoey 102, is now in production for Paramount+.

Many of the original cast members are reprising their roles, including Jamie Lynn Spears, Sean Flynn, Erin Sanders, and Matthew Underwood.

Paul Butcher, Victoria Justice, and Alexa Nikolas have decided to sit this one out. Instead, several new characters, played by Owen Thiele, Thomas Lennon, and Dean Geyer, will be introduced.

The movie will follow Zoey navigating her 20s and reuniting with her old boarding school friends.

Judging by the new teaser Jamie Lynn Spears posted on her Instagram page, Zoey 102 will be released this summer and include a wedding. Maybe we will finally get to see Zoey and Chase tie the knot and melt our shipper hearts?

While the prospect is exciting, the revival movie might not be the best idea at the moment.

Jamie Lynn Spears, who plays the titular character, has been in hot water in recent years for her involvement in her sister Britney Spears' conservatorship case.

Seeing her back in the spotlight may not sit well with the audiences who sympathize with Britney's struggles. If you thought that was the end of it, we are here to disappoint you.

As you may recall, the original series was developed for Nickelodeon by the notorious Dan Schneider, who has faced backlash for his alleged sexual misconduct and bullying on the set of his shows.

Even though he is not involved in any way with the revival movie, people are not sure if Paramount+ should give more exposure to the project with such a creator.

From a storytelling point of view, Zoey 102 may disappoint the fans of the show if the movie decides to break up the couples that we have loved for the last 15 years, which is very likely. Zoey and Chase may no longer be together.

Quinn and Logan may have split as well. After all, they were high school relationships, which are usually short-lived (but we don't want to find that out in the revival).
