Why Carmy Wants to Leave His Restaurant in ‘The Bear’ Season 4 Finale, Explained

Things have become even rockier in The Bear’s season 4 ending, but the show’s recent major update might have just promised a resolution for the problem.
Fans were likely prepared for anything else happening in The Bear’s brand new fourth season, but definitely not for that shocking plot twist that could potentially change everything in the entire story.
The Bear’s latest instalment closely follows Carmy and co’s attempts to get a Michelin star for their brand new haute cuisine restaurant “The Bear”, though the team — obviously — has some major trouble on the way to achieving the goal.
By the time Carmy’s shocking decision is revealed, the series’ fans have already started fearing this might be signalling the most certain end for The Bear as a whole — however, a big update was quick to debunk the theory.
That Shocking Plot Twist in ‘The Bear’ Season 4, Explained
It’s been a long time coming for Carmy who has started realizing he might have to deal with his mental health issues before becoming the new restaurant’s chef and leader.
The fourth season’s emotional finale marks the climax in Carmy’s drama, with the character admitting to Sydney, Cousin Richie and Natalie that he no longer has special feelings neither for his restaurant, nor for the restaurant industry itself.
Carmy also reveals that he was thinking about giving the ownership rights to the three of them since he feels like there’s a need for him to stay away from the kitchen business and discover his own self outside of the industry.
Particularly, Carmy highlights his hope for Sydney who he considers a natural leader and teacher.
‘The Bear’ Will Give an Update on Carmy’s Situation in Season 5
While the show’s fans didn’t really have that much time to speculate about the fourth season’s ending, making their own predictions of whether it will in fact become The Bear’s definite finale, it didn’t take long for Hulu’s hit show to get another season either.
The Bear’s fifth instalment was confirmed just a week after the previous season’s premiere on June 27, with FX’s bosses stating that season 4 has shown a viewership solid enough for the series to continue its run.
It’s not yet clear when exactly The Bear’s season 5 will start its production or get its release, though, judging by the show’s traditional scheme of dropping one new season per year, the next one can be expected to arrive on Hulu sometime in 2026.
