You might need some more baby food for preparing dinner tonight.

If you’re used to making all kinds of lunches and dinners at home for your family, it’s likely you’ve already encountered tens of recipes that require some extraordinary ingredients.

Well, it might be that nothing comes close to this recipe for ribs in Canadian style, since the secret to those ribs’ juicy texture is apple puree for babies. In fact, the dish will help you make a budget dinner that the entire family will love, so don’t put this recipe way too far.

Ingredients: 2 kg of pork ribs, 300–400 g of brown sugar (you can adjust to your taste), 1/2 cup of baby apple puree, 1/2 cup of ketchup, 5 tbsp of lemon juice, 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, 1/2 tsp of paprika, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1/2 tsp of salt.

First, cut the ribs into portions of 1–2 bones each, cover them with boiling water, and boil for about 30 minutes; this makes them softer and helps them cook faster in the oven. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C.

While the ribs are boiling, prepare the sauce: mix apple puree, sugar, ketchup, lemon juice, and all the spices.

Place the cooked ribs on a baking sheet, generously coat them with the sauce, and let them rest for 20-30 minutes to absorb the flavors. Then put them in the oven for about an hour. While baking, take them out a couple of times and brush them again; this is what creates that sticky, glazed crust.
