The new series promises a peculiar mix of glamorous fashion style and cruelty of the social competition.

Summary:

  • The new Apple TV show Palm Royale will be set in the 1960s with the social competition centered in the plot.
  • The plot itself will follow the main character Maxine, played by Kristen Wiig, who will try to get into the high society of a glamorous resort.
  • The cast includes some famous names like Laura Dern, Kaia Gerber, Ricky Martin and many others. The show will be released on Apple TV on March 20.

The events of Palm Royale, as it seems now, unfold in the 1960s — a decade of ground-breaking events in literally all spheres of human society. And while history was developing alongside people, the latter ones were striving for social success, climbing the career ladder and trying to throw down competitors from it.

In other words, Palm Royale lays claim to be something similar to famous White Lotus, but this time set in another place and time.

The plot will focus on Maxine, played by Kristen Wiig, who is new in Palm Beach in Florida, in 1969. Thanks to her aunt’s prominent name she tends to represent family wealth and, after meeting gorgeous women at Palm Royale Hotel, she decides to definitely find her place in that elite world.

Despite the high society’s ambiguous attitude towards the newcomer, Maxine doesn’t seem to see any obstacles on the way to her dream. But the deeper Maxine dives into the life of this society, the more ugly secrets she uncovers as their masters try to keep them away from other people’s eyes.

Besides Kristen Wiig in the leading role, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb, Ricky Martin, Kaia Gerber, Jordan Bridges, Josh Lucas and many others are also expected to appear in the new show.

Palm Royale is run by Abe Sylvia who also elaborated the script, but originally was based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. & Mrs. American Pie.

The series will become available for watching on March 20 and exclusively for Apple TV holders. It is also known that there will be 10 episodes in total which will appear one by one on the platform every Wednesday.
