AppleTV+ Will Release New Perfectly Crafted Crime Drama This Week

Another masterpiece is coming from the platform for the fans of both dark and funny stories that keep you invested from the first minute. And the fact that it’s coming from Ridley Scott is a giant perk.
AppleTV+ has a reputation for producing high-quality content, and Silo, Severance, and many other shows are proof of that. So when the platform announces something new, there's usually no doubt that it's going to be legendary.
So mark your calendars, because March 14 is going to bring you something very interesting in the form of a new crime drama called Dope Thief. This new series dives deep into the criminal underworld and explores crime, loyalty, and the blurred lines between right and wrong.
What Dope Thief Is About?
The plot of the Dope Thief miniseries revolves around the two main characters, best friends, who are small-time crooks trying to pose as DEA agents to rob a house. However, everything goes wrong when they realize they have robbed a major drug operation… And now they have to face all the consequences that came with that.
Initially, Ray and Manny seem like a smart, self-motivated pair. Their stakeout banter is sharp, and Ray has a funny bit where he demonstrates “the command voice,” that authoritative tone you might use to train dogs or rob drug dealers while posing as a DEA agent.
Still, their scheme was always doomed to fail, and when it does, they make rookie mistakes.
The guys, played by Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura, will likely make any viewer think they could climb the cartel’s ranks faster than these two. But it’s still not the funniest part of their operation-gone-wrong.
The funny thing is that the show never seemed to get the publicity it deserved, even according to future viewers.
“They seem to be treating this show like any other, even though they should be marketing the hell out of it. The pilot was directed by Ridley Scott and reportedly cost over $40M to produce because they had to close off an entire town. They should be running teasers and ads everywhere,” Redditor thomasbdl said.
Well, maybe that was some kind of genius marketing decision that will prove to make it all work? Anyway, let's wait until the first episode airs on AppleTV+ on March 14 to check it out.
