Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson can be brothers in the most literal sense possible, and this is not a false alarm: they have a DNA test upcoming!

The two actors are famously best friends in real life as well as co-stars on different projects.

When you hear "McConaughey and Harrelson," you likely picture the first season of True Detective where their characters partnered up for a case and eventually became bros.

What you don't picture, though, is that the actors themselves are even more than bros — they are potentially brothers by blood.

This came as a revelation to the two friends after Woody spoke to Matt's mother and she hinted that she might have had a thing with Harrelson Sr. back when she was going through the divorce with her husband.

Woody then realized that during that time, his dad was on furlough, and there were quite a few places in Texas where he could've met his friend's mother.

Harrelson then decided to recruit McConaughey on a mission to take a DNA test together and settle this once and for all.

He's been very open and excited about the perspective of being bound by blood with his on-screen and real-life buddy.

For Matthew, it turned out to be a much tougher question. The actor is afraid to lose his identity: for well over half a century, he knew who his father was, and now he can't be sure anymore.

At age 53, McConaughey is reluctant about taking the DNA test as it might reveal that he's been living in a lie for his entire life.

This doesn't stop Harrelson from trying to convince him, though. He keeps telling his friend that even if the test confirms they are blood, he won't be losing his father but gaining a second one as well as finding a brother in his friend.

Even though McConaughey is still hesitant, Apple TV+ already jumped on the train and recruited both actors to film their family reunion in the new comedy series Brother From Another Mother.

This is some big news potentially coming our way — and some real True Detective drama.

We're very intrigued whether the two partners will be able to uncover yet another decades-long mystery.
