And no, it’s not The Office’s reboot.

Summary:

  • John Krasinski rose to prominence thanks to his role of Jim in the famous sitcom The Office starring Steve Carell in the leading role, but the former is also known as an experienced director with one of his own movies coming out soon.
  • The upcoming film may draw the biggest attention of The Office’s fans as the star-packed cast also features one of the famous show’s main actors.
  • Krasinski’s brand new film is a partly live-action, partly animated fantasy comedy that will hit the cinemas in May.

The fans of the legendary sitcom The Office can now mark May 17 in their calendars as the famous show’s iconic reunion will be brought to the screens — though it won’t be related to The Office in any way.

A brand new film of John Krasinski, who portrayed Jim in the series, will hit the cinemas — and the upcoming movie will feature one of Krasinski’s most exciting colleagues.

Though he got most of his prominence after playing Jim in The Office, John Krasinski has also been around as a director for a while now — back in 2009 he directed a comedy drama Brief Interviews with Hideous Men and then came back to the director’s chair for the post-apocalyptic horror franchise A Quiet Place starring his wife Emily Blunt.

Now Krasinski has turned his focus to a more positive prospect — and directed a partly live-action, partly animated film IF which is set to premiere on May 17.

The plot of the upcoming movie follows a young girl Bea who, while experiencing quite a difficult period of time in her life, suddenly starts seeing everyone’s imaginary friends who are also shorty called “IFs”.

As it turns out, the creatures have been abandoned as soon as their human friends grew up. Trying to explore her new ability, Bea discovers that her neighbor Cal can also see imaginary friends.

The film is expected to become a huge cinematic deal as it comes with a truly star-studded cast that includes Cailey Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, Fiona Shaw and John Krasinski himself in the live action while the fictional characters will talk with voices given by Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Sam Rockwell, Blake Lively, George Clooney, Bradley Cooper and many others.

IF will mark John Krasinski and Steve Carell’s first ever collaboration since The Office and this is what will surely make fans rave about the upcoming movie.

The exciting reunion may not show both actors sharing the screen as Steve Carell is behind it only voicing one of the main characters, but many can still expect some interaction between John Krasinski’s character and the creature voiced by Carell.

After all, Krasinski is the one who elaborated the whole script, so we’ll probably get some of The Office-related jokes — and we will be there for them.
