'Ballerina' Conquered the World with More than Just her Fighting Skills: Here's Where the Acclaimed Spin-Off of the 'John Wick' Franchise was Filmed

The gloomy European city set the tone for the entire film perfectly.
The John Wick franchise spin-off Ballerina was released in the summer of 2025 and immediately captured the attention of viewers with its spectacular stunts, the charisma of Ana de Armas, and an exquisite visual palette.
But one of the film's main characters is not Eva Macarro, but Prague itself. It was this European city that became the heart of the filming process, giving the film that very dark elegance that fans of the Wick world appreciate so much.
Principal photography took place in Prague and other locations in the Czech Republic. The city was ideal for recreating the atmosphere of the underground world of assassins: its ancient streets, dark dungeons, and industrial outskirts seem to breathe danger and mystery on their own.
The scenes with the heroine's training were filmed in abandoned industrial buildings on the outskirts of Prague — this is where the training halls of the Ruska Roma clan were located. Local architectural ghosts added a harsh authenticity to the shots.
The luxurious interiors of the ballet school, where deadly techniques were taught under the guise of art, were filmed in the pavilions of the Barrandov studio. This is one of the oldest film studios in Europe, where classical films were once filmed, and now - ballet action dramas about revenge. And the scenes of the theater and performances took place in the halls of the Rudolfinum — one of the main concert halls in the Czech Republic.
Moravia, Budapest and the Austrian Hallstatt also took part in the filming, but it was Prague that set the visual style. The city played itself - cold, stylish, dangerous. And it perfectly fit into the bloody fairy tale with Tchaikovsky's music and gunshots.
