Big Brother 28 week 10: a $5,000 deal from week 4 keeps two Survivor icons off Yash's block, and a 12-hour veto freed Drew
Big Brother 28 is down to eight people, the finale is on 1 October, and the most important move of week 10 was made six weeks ago. Yash Patel is Head of Household and cannot touch two of the players he most wants gone, because back in week 4 he accepted $5,000 to leave them alone.

The money came from Dee Valladares, the Survivor 45 winner and one of the three reality veterans CBS dropped into this season. She won the BB Bribe — a power first seen back on Big Brother 18 — and spent it on a simple purchase: the icons stay safe. Yash accepted. Six weeks later the bill arrived.
A bribe is only a bad deal if you survive long enough to pay it. Yash has survived to week 10, which is exactly the problem.
So his block this week is all newcomers: Barrett Pfeiffer, Drew Campbell and Melody Morris. Three nominees rather than two is a format change this season, which usually gives an HOH more room to work. It has done the opposite here. With Dee and Survivor's Rick Devens untouchable, the pool Yash can actually aim at is tiny.
The 12-hour veto that undid the plan
Then the veto went sideways. The competition was an endurance build in the mould of the classic Pressure Cooker, and it ran past the twelve-hour mark before it broke. Drew Campbell — a nominee — won it, his first veto of the season, and promptly cut a deal with the man who had put him up.
Which means Yash spends his one week of power watching a nominee walk off the block, needing a replacement, and having most of the house ruled out before he starts. The strategic reading from the feeds has been consistent all season: he competes better than he negotiates.

How the icons experiment actually went
The Time Trip season opened on 9 July with 14 new houseguests, then added three established reality players during premiere week: Angela Murray, who won Big Brother 26; Rick Devens, of Survivor: Edge of Extinction and Survivor 50; and Dee.
- The icons were never a bloc. Dee bought protection for all three; only two are still in the house.
- Angela went out last week. Barrett's HOH was aimed at a Survivor icon and took out the Big Brother winner instead.
- Dee's purchase outlived her ally. The deal binds Yash to Rick and Dee regardless of what happened to Angela.
- Two of eight are ring-ins. A quarter of the remaining field arrived with a résumé, and both are protected this week.
The season has leaned hard on borrowed machinery: the BB Time Capsule ran from week 2 to week 7, handing out powers and punishments pulled from earlier seasons on a viewer vote, and BB Block Buster returned to let nominees compete their way off the block. It is a season built out of its own reruns, which is either a nice fit with the time-travel theme or a tell.
Every twist this season is a reissue. The one doing the most damage is a $5,000 handshake nobody filmed a competition for.
Julie Chen Moonves is still hosting, as she has since 2000. What is left of the schedule is short and violent: a double eviction is coming, the jury is filling up, and the whole thing ends on 1 October. Nineteen days, eight players, and one man still paying off a deal he made in July.
