Black Bag’s Nearly Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score Sets Multiple Records for Its Cast and Crew

The movie starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender became an immediate hit with both critics and audiences.
Last year might have been a tough time for Cate Blanchett after the failed premiere of her superhero flick Borderlands, though the actress has just redeemed her position with a high-rated movie that instantly turned into a new hit.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, a spy thriller Black Bag starring Blanchett opposite Michael Fassbender was released less than a week ago and has already garnered numerous accolades, becoming both actors’ biggest career achievements.
Despite Black Bag having yet a long run ahead, the brand new movie has quickly become an exceptional matter for its production team, breaking several records for many cast and crew members.
Black Bag Is the Highest-Rated Movie for 17 Cast and Crew Members
Released worldwide on March 14, the movie received all possible praise, landing a nearly perfect score of 97% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film helped its helmer Steven Soderbergh reach a new milestone in his long-standing career, becoming the director’s highest-rated movie to-date, surpassing his feature debut Sex, Lies, and Videotape released all the way back in 1989 and currently holding 96% of positive reviews.
Additionally, Black Bag is also a record-breaking project for 16 more actors and crew members, including Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Marisa Abela, Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, screenwriter David Koepp, producers Casey Silver and Gregory Jacobs, and many others.
Cate Blanchett’s previous highest-rated movie remained 2022’s Guillermo del Toro 's Pinocchio with 96% RT score while Michael Fassbender has just surpassed the success of his 2024 comedy drama Kneecap with a score of 95%.
Meanwhile, Borderlands Is Still Dominating in Prime Video ’s Global Top
Despite bombing in the box office and failing dramatically with critical reviews last year, Borderlands with Blanchett in one of the leading roles keeps getting attention from Prime Video’s viewers, currently sitting at the 3rd position in the streamer’s global top chart, according to FlixPatrol.
Based on the video game series of the same name, Borderlands opened to a major backlash from critics, eventually landing a disheartening score of 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, and later turned into a box office failure too, grossing $33 million against its initial budget of $120 million.
The movie was then released on Prime Video roughly 3 weeks after its theatrical premiere on August 9.
