  • Released in 2018, the movie garnered numerous accolades from critics and viewers, eventually ending up with a score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With all the never-ending updates coming straight from the production set, there’s absolutely no doubt that A Simple Favor’s sequel won’t take too long to finally arrive on the screens. Starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, the fashionable comedy thriller blew everyone away back in 2018 — and now, 6 years later, it’s finally arrived to the streaming.

Based on Darcey Bell’s 2017 novel of the same name, A Simple Favour follows two best friends who seemingly have completely different paths.

Stephanie, portrayed by Anna Kendrick, is a widowed single mother who found her vocation in running her own vlog about parental life hacks. Emily, played by Blake Lively, seems to be her friend’s exact antithesis with all the posh lifestyle that she’s used to thanks to a successful career and loving husband beside her.

When Emily asks Stephanie about a simple favor to babysit her son while both she and her husband will be away, Stephanie doesn’t find anything suspicious in it — until one day Emily vanishes completely.

Unwillingly involved into an entangled series of weird lies, Stephanie decides to find another use for her vlog and launches her own investigation that later on leads her to unveiling some of her friend’s darkest secrets.

Upon its release the movie was quick to gain critical and commercial success grossing more than $97 million in the box office against the budget of $20 million and getting a score of 84% from the critics and 73% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.

A Simple Favour eventually got so much praise from those who got to see it that the creators had no doubts about letting the movie’s story unfold even bigger with an upcoming sequel. It’s reported that Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding and the rest of the main cast are set to reprise their roles.

A Simple Favour can now be streamed on Netflix.
