Blue Bloods lead star’s complaints about the show’s cancellation have CBS execs fuming.

In December 2023, CBS announced that Season 14 would be the finale of Blue Bloods, and that wasn’t a popular decision at all. On the fans’ side, there have been #SaveBlueBloods petitions and campaigns; on the cast’s part, no one has been more vocal about the absolute necessity of the show’s continuation as Tom Selleck.

Apparently, CBS bosses find the lead actor’s pleas extremely infuriating — and for a good reason, as much as it pains us to say it. Here’s what an inside source revealed.

Selleck’s ‘Poverty’ Claims Impressed No One

While a large part of Tom Selleck’s one-man war with CBS is focused on how important the show is for the Blue Bloods cast, crew, and fans, there’s another thing he’s been very vocal about lately: money. According to the actor, the show’s cancellation could render him broke — and unable to maintain his favorite ranch.

“Despite Selleck’s pleas of poverty, CBS higher-ups aren’t buying it, armed with knowledge of his jaw-dropping paycheck over the years. He raked in a staggering $200k per episode, accumulating a jaw-dropping $56M over the show’s run — and that’s not even factoring in residuals from reruns,” an insider told Closer Weekly.

Selleck’s Wealth Far Exceed His Colleagues’

According to the source, the CBS execs are extremely infuriated by Tom Selleck’s behavior in light of his selfishness. While the lead actor’s scared for his massive property, most folks from the crew and behind-the-scenes staff make a fraction of his one-episode salary in a year, and it’s them who’ll really be hit by the cancellation.

“Many of these hardworking individuals reportedly make less than $100k a year, facing uncertainty and financial strain as the show comes to an end. Tom is an entitled brat. Hundreds of people are facing unemployment when the show wraps. Most of them will struggle to make ends meet — while Tom complains about the upkeep of his lavish 63-acre ranch,” the insider added.

In this light, it makes a lot of sense why the network’s higher-ups are frustrated with Selleck’s behavior. Amid all the claims about how the Blue Bloods cast and crew are one big family, the actor’s only been vocal about his own financial problems, which is barely impressive considering he’s a millionaire who works with regular folks.
