Tom Selleck had a great run but is now ready to wrap it up — just like Blue Bloods.

Summary:

  • Blue Bloods has been running since 2010 but is ending soon with Season 14.
  • Tom Selleck, the Frank Reagan star, has always claimed he’d keep the show going for as long as fans wanted him to.
  • Now, with Blue Bloods coming to a closure, the actor plans on retiring to his ranch and spending time with his family.

The hit police procedural Blue Bloods is officially ending with Season 14, and the entire Reagan family is retiring from the NYPD. Some actors will move on to new projects, but not Tom Selleck: it seems like Police Commissioner Frank Reagan will be his last character. According to sources, Selleck is planning to retire very soon.

Blue Bloods Is Ending After 14 Years

Tom Selleck’s latest hit show Blue Bloods has been running since 2010, and it’s been a great run — but now, with Season 14, the series comes to a closure. There have been many signs of its soon finale, including the budget cuts and Selleck’s reported health issues that made him use stunt doubles, but it’s still tough news.

Fans of the show are reasonably upset, especially since it wasn’t Tom Selleck’s decision to end the show now. The actor was famously always “game” for more seasons, willing to keep Blue Bloods going for as long as his fans and colleagues would want him to. Unfortunately, this era is coming to an end before our eyes.

Despite his earlier claims that he wasn’t planning on retiring, it seems like that’s exactly what the star actor wants to do after he’s done with Blue Bloods. Having been in the business for around six decades, it only makes sense that he’s tired.

“[Tom] wants to relax on his ranch, walk around his property, spend time with his wife and family, and travel a bit. <...> [His wife] Jillie has this sort of joie de vivre, this effervescent quality that just lights up a room. Tom and Jillie can just sit at home, cook, go for a long walk and be very content. <...> He’s looking forward to having more free time to spend with her,” an insider told Closer Weekly.

It seems like after many long years of tireless work, Tom Selleck is finally ready to put his acting chops to rest and enjoy life to its fullest from out of the spotlight. While we’re sad to see Blue Bloods go, we’re happy for its star actor. If anyone deserves to sit back and relax on a ranch with his family, it’s Tom Selleck!
